- Spartan Race will take place in the breathtaking landscapes of Finland in the city of Lahti. Lahti is located in southern Finland, and is the heart of Salpausselkä UNESCO Global Geopark, a region renowned for its stunning nature and diverse terrain formed by Ice Age meltwaters from a continental glacier over 12,000 years ago. In Lahti, nature and urban environment merge.
- Lahti Spartan weekend includes Beast European Championship race as well as Trifecta: Sprint and Super. Even though there are no mountains in Lahti, racers can expect challenges in elevation as well as water – Finland is known as a land of a thousand lakes.
- When racing in Lahti offers breathtaking nature park scenery, there’s no doubt of taking a ride up on the Ski Jumping hill viewing deck and taking an overlook of the city, Lake Vesijärvi, and Salpausselkä trails. From the Sport Center, the heart of the race venue, there is a walking distance to the harbor, the amazing concert hall, Sibelius Hall, and the best café, Kahvila Kariranta, well-known for its huge cinnamon rolls. Spending time well, it’s worth having dinner in Restaurant Taivaanranta, where you may taste beers and the World’s best whiskies from its local brewery and distillery, Teerenpeli.
- Spartan is a versatile combination of endurance, power, and mental strength; Finnish SISU, as we say in Finland. During your journey to Spartan, endurance training, running, and other sports, as well as strength training, are also combined with childlike play, crawling, hanging, overcoming obstacles, carrying, and throwing. Pushing a tired body requires mental strength.
- The Spartan community in Finland is still small, but close-knit and eager to grow. The experienced and actively competing community is ready to welcome all new Spartans, to support and help both in training and in competitions. Enthusiasm, open-mindedness, and courage!
